My musical journey with harmonica began when I was about 16 years. Infact it was a legacy which was passed on to me as my father plays it too. As it’s the same with almost everyone my first harmonica was Hero which I got for Rs.25 about 40 years back. The collection gradually grew as chromatic harmonicas got added . I was always fascinated with the instrument which appeared to be simple yet had the ability to produce such a complex music. It is a unique instrument as it becomes a part of one’s life and personality. The passion continued during my medical college days by giving performances in college festivals and in inter- college competitions. After that rigors of post graduation and subsequently years of hectic work as radiologist hardly left me with any time for harmonica.
My instruments were gathering dust and getting rusty. A chance meeting with Dr Doordarshi Singh rekindled my interest in harmonica playing. The entry into Harmonicats Group opened a whole new world to me. Now I was learning everyday, devoting myself to serious practicing and getting guidance from few highly experienced players. It has become a huge stress buster and helps keep me up and active all the time. Fortunately my son also developed interest in music and is highly proficient in playing the keyboard. Posting two of my renditions in this musical journey and a confluence with my son.
